Is your car ready to handle the winter weather? Check out our top tips for how to prep your car for winter.
1. Give your tires a full checkup
To ensure your tires are winter-ready, double-check the pressure on your tires to make sure they have enough air and check the treads to make sure they aren’t too worn using the penny test. If they haven’t been rotated in a while, now is a good time to do that too.
2. Change your wiper fluid and your oil

Did you know that the windshield wiper fluid you use in the warmer months (spring, summer, fall) is thinner than the “winter” fluid? As you prep you car for winter, go ahead and switch to the thicker fluid. “Winter fluid is designed for the rigors of winter weather and won’t freeze on your windshield. In fact, it actually helps loosen ice and snow from your windshield, making it much easier to keep things clear.” Source: https://money.usnews.com/
3. Put together an emergency kit
If your car breaks down in the middle of winter and you get stranded by the side of the road, you’re going to want to have essentials such as flashlights, warm blankets, snacks etc. on hand. So as you prep your car for winter, be sure to consult a roadside emergency kit must-have list and pack those essentials in your vehicle so that you’re never caught without what you need.
