A common nightmare that everyone has is being locked out of their car. And, you would not think it is possible to happen, but the fact of the matter is, it does. This situation happens a lot more than you would think, and the good news is, there are methods that you can utilize if the unthinkable were to happen to you.
All you need to do is prepare yourself for the possibility that you could accidentally leave your keys in the car and end up getting locked out as a result. And, it does not involve you having to smash the passenger window in order to retrieve your keys. All you need to do is make sure that the following items are on hand just in case you get locked out of your car. These items are:

Always carry a spare key in your pocket or wallet
The first thing that anyone should do as soon as they purchase their car is as soon as it is ready for you to use, take the key and duplicate it. In fact, make several copies of the car key. This way, you can have one spare to keep with you at all times. And, you can give extra keys to your partner or a trusted family member. You never know when you may end up needing their help as well.
Keep a metal hanger with you if you have an old car
This hanger method won’t work on newer cars that were made within the last decade. However, if you have an older car and you end up locking yourself out, take a metal hanger and bend it to the point that the end is hooked but the rest of it is straight. All you need to do is insert it in between the weather stripping section of the window. You can easily reach the door mechanism this way, and as soon as you reach the lock, you can unlock it and finally get your keys back.
If you utilize these tips, then you won’t have to worry about being locked out again. And, the most recommended tip is really the first one. If you make several copies of your car key, and you keep at least one with you at all times, then you will never have to worry about being locked out of your car again.
